Flowers ♡

A while ago I picked a huge bunch of proteas off the protea bush in our garden.  I cannot believe how prolifically it is flowering.  It is an absolute joy!

The next best thing to enjoying cut flowers or garden flowers (whether they be succulents or exotics) are photographs or paintings of flowers.

Here's a round-up of some flower pics that I've posted to instagram.

My  mother always had a posy of flowers in every room.

From a riot of colours to the restraint of white (and green) - even leaves bring life to a room.

Enjoy!

Hermanus update ♡

With lockdown and beach bans we haven't had much incentive to visit our holiday house for a while.  When we returned recently we were reminded of how much you can do in Hermanus - aside from soaking up the beautiful scenery, the beaches and mountain. We keep discovering new things!

Ficks Pool now has a new venue for drinks/meals:

Ideal spot for a tidal pool dip, or to visit for drinks (and maybe nibbles to share).

The drive back to Voelklip via the updated sculptural art displays is always fun:

Spot the Dassie!

The Hermanus market on Saturdays is the family fave for delicious artisan goodies and hearty local produce and food.  Bacon-on-a-stick is a drawcard on its own.

Hermanus is a really beautiful spot, 90 minutes from Cape Town and worth visiting and supporting all the many local eateries and galleries.

Our holiday home, which sleeps 10 and is close to the beach, is available to rent.

Crochet Snood ♡

So last night I posted this pic onto instagram:  "Can’t decide if I like this piece I’m working on or if I should frog and do something else with the squares. 🤔 "

I'd experimented with doing a crochet heart motif and decided that grey and caramel would be a good combination for a snood / poncho idea.

I'm a huge fan of quilts and love experimenting with colour and a mix of patterns to create a one-off, unique, homemade piece.  But this project just isn't working for me so I checked on my instagram post.

This post has gone viral!  Thank you everyone for the 1,000+ likes on day 1.  Wow, now I feel bad about wanting to unpick it :-)

June Update:  Now almost 65,000 exposures - and it's still a work in progress!
